Beschreibung
Werewolves is an improvised theatre show based on the popular game Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow. The actors play out the story of a village which is struck by a werewolf curse. Every night, an innocent villager is murdered. In this show it’s not the players, but the audience who has to unmask and execute the werewolves. Together with Sytse Wilman, Ben co-directed a Dutch-Belgian ensemble that performed this show at international festivals. In this workshop, you will learn to perform this show full of blood-thirsty wolves and innocent villagers. Step by step we go through its different phases and learn the essential techniques that help to convincingly perform it. We pay special attention to building atmosphere, creating suspense and envisioning the stage picture. BIO Ben Verhoeven Ben Verhoeven is an improviser and teacher from Antwerp, Belgium. He’s known for his work on the intersection between science and (improvised) theatre. His more rational and analytical approach also features in his artistic endeavours and performing style. Ben has a secure and calm stage presence while thoroughly committing to the show at hand with a solid awareness of the stage, players and scene. Oh, and he loves improvising musical theatre! Ben is three time winner of the Belgian longform improv competition Kemphanen, with his musical improv group Commotie and his trio Prism. In 2024, he won Bronze with team Belgium at the European improv championships. He has his own company ERLNMYR combining improvisation and science communication, for example in the AI improvisation show Improbotics. Ben currently teaches improvisation at Wisper, and before that at Conservatorium Mechelen and the Swaajp School of Improv. He regularly offers workshops globally (India, Germany, New Zealand, France, Slovenia, The Netherlands, Poland).
